MUSICAL EDUCATION :

Graduated at Dutch Royal Conservatory under the guideline of Eric Ineke and Hans Zonderop.
Francesco's studies were leaded by Marco Ariano, Pierluigi Calderoni  and Toni Armetta.
Workshops with international performers and teachers such as Gary Chafee, Dave Garibaldi, Peter Erskine, Mike Manieri,
Alan Broadbent, Mark Giuliana, Brad Mehldau.

MUSIC EXPERIENCE:

Over 15 years of professional musical experience Francesco performed in places like North Sea Jazz Festival (NL) , Bimhuis (NL) , De Doelen theatre (NL) , Lantaren Theatre (NL), Pure Jazz Fest (NL), Bansky Dvor Theatre in Banja Luka, Italian Institute of culture in Addis Abeba, Opera Theatre in Ankara, WOMAD Fest in Gran Canaria, Heineken Jazz Fest Canarian Islands (Spain), Kalamata Jazz Fest, Teatro Marcello (IT), Aula Nervi (Vatican), Teatro Morlacchi (IT), Auditorium Parco Della Musica di Roma, Casa del Jazz in Rome, Villa Celimontana Jezz Fest in Rome, Teatro Massenzio in Rome and many others.

From 1999 to 2002 he collaborated with the world music band INDACO,with which he took part in renowned Italian festivals, events and concerts, as well as to the popular music TV programme"Help". Throughout his time with Indaco he played alongside artists such as Arnaldo Vacca, Rodolfo Maltese, Karl Potter, Mauro Pagani, Andrea Parodi, Francesco Di Giacomo.

He founded the band CAPOLINEA with Stefano Ciuffi (guitar),Alessandro Corsi (bass) and the Japanese saxophonist Genzo Okabe. CAPOLINEA has a very original sound: a mix of funk-jazz-fusion-rock. Capolinea participated in many important events and opened concerts for a lot of international bands, including, James Taylor Quartet and Hatfield and the North. Capolinea always enjoyed great success from from large and diverse audiences.

He founded the band LA VAGUE with Alessandro Corsi (bass) and Francesca Pirami (voice). LA VAGUE arose from the desire to create and play music with strong dramatic taste and influence: music able to tell a story, a history, a character. The repertoire consists of original songs and covers (Tom Waits, Henry Mancini, Judy Garlard, standards).

2002/2008 "Lady Bird Project" of the guitarist Paolo Patrignani, with Fabio Di Cocco on piano, Pierpaolo Ranieri on bass and special guests like Mike Stern (guitar), Alain Caron (bass) and Bob Franceschini (sax)

2003/2005" Rasali" with Cristiano Mattei, Simone Presciutti,Alessandro Corsi, Filippo Marcheggiani.

2004/2006 Umberto Napolintano Trio (piano), with Toni Armetta on bass, the trio made its debut in 2005 with the CD 'EOS' and takes part in several jazz festivals (Divino Jazz festival, Peperoncino Jazz festival,Blue Note Milano)

2005/2008 Paolo Pallante Band (guitar and voice) with Eric Daniel (sax), Toni Armetta (bass), Carlos Sarmiento (piano), Raul Scebba (percuss.).special guests Antonello Salis, Antonio Marangolo, Mike Applebaum and Massimo Pirone.

 

2005 "Trombe Rosse big band" conducted by Massimo Nunzi with renowned international soloists such as Enrico Pierannunzi, Danilo Rea, Mike Applebaum, Andy Gravish, Luca Begonia, Fabrizio Bosso,Javier Girotto, Max Ionata, Ada Montellanico. The orchestra played at “La Casa Del Jazz” and ”Auditorium Parco Della Musica” in Rome.

2006/2009 Raffaello Simeoni band with Arnaldo Vacca, Luca Barberini, Cristiano Califano, and special guests such as Stephane Durand and Hevia.

2007/2008 “Italian Tango Quartet” with Pino Iodice (piano), Giuliana Soscia (achordeon), Francesco Angiuli (double bass). The band performed live in several international festivals (“Villa Celimontana Jazz Fest”,“Teatro Marcello” in Rome, “Opera theatre” in Ankara,“Italian Institute Of Culture” in Addis Abeba, “Auditorium parco della musica” in Rome) with a variety of repertoire including original songs and some of the most famous compositions by Astor Piazzolla.

2009/2011Alex Koo Derudder trio with Alex Koo Derudder (piano), Lennard Heyndels (bass), the band plays several gigs in Holland and Belgium,performed live at the North Sea Jazz Fest, Lantaren Theatre and Bimhuis.The band won the Princess Christina Jazz Concours 2010 and was finalist of the Dutch Jazz Competition 2010

2009/2012 Miguel Rodriguez Trio, with Miguel Rodriguez (Piano), Luciano Poli (Bass). The band plays several gigs in Holland and performed at De Doelen Theatre in Rotterdam, Amersfort Jazz Fest, Rotterdam Erasmus Jazz Price '09.

2009/2012 MANAO,the project is a mix of traditional Canarian music and Jazz, the band performed at the WOMAD Fest 2009 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canarias Jazz fest Heiniken in Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

2009/2010 Walter Wolff Trio, with Walter Wolff (piano) and Francesco Angiuli (Bass) the band plays several gigs in holland ad performed at Pure Jazz fest (Den Haag), Prospero and Bansky Dvor Theatre (Bosnia Erzegovina)

2010/2012 Georgios Tsolis Trio, the trio play several gigs in Holland and Greece, kalamata jazz fe

2009/2012 Roberto Badoglio Trio, T.H.E.O. Orchestra, Traeben, Boris Mogilevsky band, Dwiki Dharmawan, Leonardas Pilkauskas 4et, Nadia Basurto band, Rui Silva Band,  Vytis Smolskas trio, Okabe Family.

 

He also played with: Bob Franceschini, Peter Beets, Joe Cohn, John Ruocco, Eef Albers, Liudas Mockunas, Ack Van Rooyen, Rodolfo Neves, Tom Beek, Michele De Vito, C.C.F.M., Luca Barberini, Ludovico Piccinini, Luca Bernardini, Marco Adami, in Boston with the guitarrist Hara Garacci and the bass player Roberto Badoglio, Manuele Montesanti (yamaha music italia), Andrea Perroni (“Colorado Cafe Live” and “Guida al Campionato” tv shows ) "Drumbalaja" with Matteo Di Francesco.

MUSIC AND MODERN DANCE:

From 2005 to 2008 he was on the music staff of Italian National Dance Accademy, where he provided percussion accompaniment for modern dance with professors Elsa Piperno, Dino Verga, Stefania Brugnolini, Elisabeth Sjostrom , Enrica Palmieri and Ismael Ivo (workshop of A.N.D.). On June 2006 he played in the workshop run by Banu Ogan (Merce Cunningham Dance Company-ATON Dino Verga)

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Francesco worked as a drumming teacher for the following schools: "Istituto Musicale Cherubini", "Ritmix" (school for drummers),He also worked as a percussion instructor for the most prestigious Italian marching band, the Millennium Marching Band.
